The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is Africa's premier road race — and Africa's Strongest Marathon Brand 2025 as certified by World Athletics. Since its inaugural edition in 2016, the event has grown into the continent's most impactful mass-participation sporting experience, drawing runners, sponsors, and spectators from across Nigeria and beyond.
As Project Consultants and Patent Owners, Nilayo Sports Management has driven the marathon's growth from a promising debut to a globally recognised event with World Athletics global certification. The 10th anniversary edition in 2025 marked a decade of building what has become the defining marathon of African sport.
The marathon raises over ₦3 billion annually from the private sector, with long-term commitments from Access Bank (title sponsor), KIA Motors, Seven Up, Aquafina, Airtel, and more than 30 national and global brands.
The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is ranked by Brand Finance as the Strongest Marathon Brand in Africa 2025 — measured against the world's top 50 marathons on the Brand Strength Index (BSI).
